What is Camp Breathe Easy?
Camp Breathe Easy is a six-day, five-night residential camp for children ages 7-13 with asthma. Children with an asthma diagnosis and requirement of daily asthma medication are eligible to attend the camp. The camp is operated by the American Lung Association in Georgia. We are a camp partner organization of Camp Twin Lakes. The camp goal is to promote self-confidence and responsibility in campers while helping them to learn to manage their own asthma.
As a partner camp organization of Camp Twin Lakes, Camp Breathe Easy 2017 will be held at Camp Will-A-Way, inside Fort Yargo State Park in Winder, GA. It will be the 37th year of camp! Campers are offered the excitement and fun of a traditional summer camp, with the unique advantage of an environment and staff responsive to their health concerns.
In addition to camp activities, an extensive asthma education curriculum is incorporated into the camper’s week. All educational programs are conducted by professional asthma educators. The curriculum is age and grade level appropriate, and fun and experimental in nature.
Fees & Cost of Camp Breathe Easy
Camp Breathe Easy is operated in partnership with the American Lung Association and Camp Twin Lakes. The actual cost of camp for one (1) camper is more than $1000. Due to many generous donors, the total camp fees for Camp Breathe Easy campers is only $275 per camp.
A $30 non-refundable registration fee is required for every camper application. Upon acceptance, campers pay an additional camp fee of $245 to assist in covering the cost of camper.
For those who are unable to make this payment, there is a scholarship ("campership") program, funded by the American Lung Association and other generous community organizations. Information & application for camperships will be included with the camper application.

All applications are reviewed and accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Important Dates for Campers
June 16, 2017 – Camper Registration Deadline. The $30 non-refundable, registration fee, per camper must be paid for the application to be processed.
TBD – Open House at Camp Twin Lakes, Will-A-Way. This is a great opportunity for campers and their families to meet the camp director, try activities and get a taste of camp.
June 23, 207 – The remaining $245 camp fee and physician form are due.
July 9, 2017 – Camp Breathe Easy begins!
Camp Breathe Easy Refund Policy
Parents/guardians must provide a minimum of two weeks notice before camp begins to the camp director if the child will be unable to attend camp for a refund. This is to allow ample opportunity to fill the vacant slot with another child on the waiting list. No refunds will be provided after this period unless the camper's absence is due to a family emergency or health reasons. Each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
